When Daddy plays games!!

Occasionally Von will play a video game, and Peyton would just be so fascinated in the game and just sit and stair at the TV.

The one where Peyton is just s
itting in his diaper, Von was playing Forza Motorsport 3, and Peyton just loved it, I think it was more than sound that was coming from it, and a little bit of the picture.

Another time Peyton saw Von playing a Rock Band game before he went to bed, and
the first thing Peyton did when he woke up and I brought him downstairs was grabbed the drum sticks and started banging away!!!

up, uP, UP

Peyton has learned to crawl up the stairs, I love that he can but it also scares me. I'm trying to teach him how to go down the stairs but that is a little harder. We always have a gate on the stairs but every so often I will take it down so he can go play on them, but only when I am there!!

Diaper box project!!

So I could never justify spending 14.99 or more on just one letter for Peytons room. So I took an empty diaper box and cut Peytons name out and painted it, I also did some animals too, I thought his room needed a little spicing up!! It turned out alot better than I thought it would. I will probably slowly do more things like that, maybe like some trees and other animals, we will see!!!!

Also Von and I put together a 1,000 piece puzzle, well Von 90% and me 10%. It took us about a month to get it put together with our schedules, but once it was done we glued the back and framed it, evenually I want to get a better frame, and I will sign the corner with a little message.

Spaghetti O's time!!!

Well today I gave Peyton Spaghetti O's for the first time, HE LOVED IT!! He didn't make as big of a mess as I thought he would. I would have figured it would have been all over the floor, the wall, everywhere, but he managed to keep it on his face and the tray, I was happy!! Even though he had lots of fun I don't think I will do it again....it wasn't till I started cleaning the mess up that I realized that it stained his tray a little, and I want to keep in good looking shape. So if anyone has any other ideas of fun finger food he can play and eat with that wont stain, let me know!!
One of the pics, I just put on there cause he looked really cute in his high chair!!

Finally

Well after 8 months of waiting and waiting, Peyton finally learned how to use his CHUNKY legs to CRAWL!!! It is so nice cause now he can entertain himself longer with out us having to do it all the time. He can now go as he pleases and explore!!

Random pics

Here are some random pics just to get things caught up!!

The Zoo

Von and I last minute decided to go to the Zoo, there was only an hour or so left before they closed. We had fun, but it will be a lot when peyton is older. He could only focus on things that were moving!

Park

One sunday afternoon Von and I decided to go to the park to get out of the house, and Peyton LOVES being outside. Angela and her family came to. It was just a nice day out with the fam and

friends! Peyton was 4.5 months old, and Angelas baby Arianna is only 3 weeks older than peyton, it makes things fun!!

Lake Powell

Peyton in his Life vest

The house boat and everyone

Peyton and I playing in the water

The beginning of June we went to lake Powell with Vons entire family, it was so much fun!!!! His family has a time share with a house boat, so we ended up on the house boat for a week. We found a great little place to park the house boat, so we were able to get off the boat and onto land when we wanted to. Vons family and another family came and they brought all their fun water toys!! There was boating, tubing, surfing, wake boarding, jet skiis, water skiis and lots more fun stuff!!! Peyton did a really good job with all the traveling we did to get there and he was such a good baby on the house boat.

Then there is Von waking boarding, me wake boarding (or aptempting cause as you can see I fell!) us on the boat and von feeding peyton

The wedding

The wedding

Von and I ended up getting married March 14, 2009. We took our wedding pictures the day before. And for the wedding I got my make up done by a professional that was a new experience and my Mother in-law did my hair, she did a really good job. We got Peyton a little tuxedo, he looked so cute, he was a little over 2 months now. Both the wedding and the Reception turned out great. We didn't go on a honeymoon cause we couldn't afford it, after all I just took 6 weeks off. So we just ended up staying at the Amertel inn??? (by the Edwards theater) it was nice it was a two story and on the upper floor was a jetted hot tub. And we were both baby free for a night, my Mother in-law was so nice to take Peyton that night.
That was the only pic I could find, it was really cold that day. This was just taken while the photographer was getting things set up.
Sorry I couldn't find the pic with peyton in his Tuxedo :(

Labor

Labor

It was January 1st and I was working, I ended up not really feeling well so as soon as the next manager came in I went home to relax. Later that day I ended having some bleeding, and some clots. Also had really small contractions. I was a little worried but at the same time I wasn't cause I had a Dr Apt. early the next day, so I just kept an eye on it . So the next day I went to my Dr told her about my bleeding, she didn't really seem to concerned about it. Then she felt for for the head sad he was pretty low and wouldn't be surprised if I the baby that day or tomorrow, considering I was having small contractions. So I went home and just sat in my room and relaxed all day. Later that night around 7 I took a hot bath just to relax everything, well it relaxed it too well, my contractions got a lot worse after my bath.
Around 11pm my mom had convinced me to go to the hospital, it took awhile because I didn't want to go and get sent home like all the other people I know. But we went, she checked to see how far I was dilated I was only 2 cm, she told me to walk around the hospital for an hour to see if that would change. (remember I thought I would just be sent home, so I wore High Heels)
So I walked around the hospital in high heels for an hour, not fun. After the hour was over she checked me again and there was no change, well I got sent home.
As soon as I got home the contractions were a lot worse I was waiting them off in the bedroom, they were so bad I would grab onto the bedroom frame and just SQUEEZE until they were over. I didn't want to go back to the hospital again just to get sent home again. (at that time I was living in Kuna with my parents, and the hospital was DT St Lukes) but the pain had become so bad I said screw it. So off we went to the hospital, it was of course me, my mom and dad. My dad was driving and I was in the passenger seat. Just as we were about to get on the freeway, we got PULLED OVER. The cop came to my side of the car, and asked if we knew why he pulled us over, my dad said no, cop said he ran a yellow light. Then the cop asked where we were heading. My mom in the back said "my daughter is in labor and we are going to the hospital" then the cop looked at me and ask "are you having contractions" I looked at him and said "I am having one right now" well obviously the cop let us go and said good luck!
Well when we got to the hospital they checked me again, I was a little over 3cm so they kept me. They asked me if I wanted to get in the tub or get the epidural, I chose the epidural. So by this time is was around 3am Saturday morning. I ended not practicing pushing till around 3-4 late Saturday afternoon. The cord was causing stress on the baby and I still wasn't far enough to really push. So after 42 hours of labor I ended up having a C-section. Oh and the entire time I was in the hospital I couldn't eat, just in case I had a C-section, I was REALLY HUNGRY. So before I went into the operating room they gave me this really nasty drink, I don't remember what it was for but while they were operating I ended up throwing it up. Finally he was out, he ended up going to NICU first cause he had a dimple above his little butt crack so they just wanted to check it out. The stitching took forever and I forgot to add all the pain medication they gave me was wearing off so I felt everything during the operation and the hour long stitcthing process. They took me to another room to rest while they just check on things, and then finally I go to hold my son.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Overall my pregnancy was pretty easy. I didn't get a lot of morning sickness, the only time I would throw up is, if I didn't eat anything all day and then pig out later. I soon learned though if I would eat a Popsicle first it would help me not throw up! I didn't have any complications during my pregnancy, which I was very thankful of. I ended up gaining 40 pounds, but the nice thing is I carried him high so I was able to still fit in most of my pants.

Story of us

I have decided to start a blog, so it will take up some of my spare time!! I will catch you up to today.

And the story begins

Written by Von Hansen
Did you ever have a night in which everything seemed to happen in such a way that changed your life forever? I’m going to tell you a story of the night that I didn’t know I had actually been waiting for my entire life. It all began with a seemly uneventful 3rd ward FHE dance activity. I was never too thrilled for dances because I can’t dance. I thought it was going to be just like the rest of them, me hanging in the background with my buddies and not asking any girl to dance. I had been going to the 3rd Ward for many months I figured that I already knew everyone who was going to attend, so what was the point of even going…It wasn’t like I was going to meet anyone new, right? WRONG! Little did I know that I was going to meet someone who would change my life!
My friends and I never arrive on time for church activities, mainly because we thought it looked geeky to do so. By the time my friends and I had arrived at the dance it had already started. As usual we headed to the food table to grab a drink and a cookie. As we were eating, some country dance music started playing and I noticed some people started to line dance. I was never a good dancer so I wasn’t one to ever go on the dance floor and show off my moves. But, as me and my friends were talking, I looked over and amongst the group of people line dancing I noticed one girl in particular who I thought was really good looking. A short, petite girl who I had never seen before. There she was in the middle of the dance floor smiling and having fun. The lights were dim and she was a good 30 feet away so I decided to inconspicuously join with the group of people line dancing just so I could get a closer look as to who this new girl was. When I joined in on the dancing and glanced over at her I instantly thought she was most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Every other girl at the dance paled in comparison to this short, petite beauty. While line dancing I couldn’t help but continue to make quick glances at this gorgeous female. I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. When the square dancing the music stopped I went back to my friends telling them that the lcute girl who I has spotted out was even more beautiful close up. I made up my mind that I was not going to leave the activity without asking her to dance.
I had been anxiously waiting for a slow song to begin and it wasn’t till about halfway through the dance the DJ finally decided to play one. At the start of the slow song I noticed that she was sitting at a table with just her friends and no guy had asked her to dance yet. I thought that this was my moment go make my move and to hopefully not look like a fool doing so. To be honest, I was scared out of my mind. If it wasn’t for some encouragement from a friend I might not have ever asked her for a slow dance because I was too scared that someone who I already thought was super cute would be turned off by such an average looking guy. But, with all my friends watching me I mustered the courage and walked over to her. She was sitting in a chair as I walked up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, she turned around and I asked her if she would like to dance and to my surprise she said 'yes'. I took her by the hand and we walked to the dance floor.
Now, in past experiences I’ve had dancing with other girls sometimes you each end up just looking the other way and not really talking much after you exchange names and ask the standard 'get to know you' questions. After we exchanged names the only dialog I can specifically remember was trying to find out how old this girl was. Now, one of the reasons I almost didn’t ask her to dance was because she looked very young. I figured she even might even just be 18 years old. And I didn’t really want to date someone that young. So I thought it would be clever to not ask her for her age directly but ask her when she graduated from high school and then just do some math in my head and figure out how old she was.
“So what year did you graduate high school?” I asked.
“Guess!” she replied.
I thought to myself 'oh man', I could really screw things up depending on how I responded to her.’ “I dunno, 2008” which would have made her 18 because that what I thought her age was.
“Nope,” she said.
Instantly I thought that she might not even be graduated yet and I might be dancing with a 17 year old still in high school!!! I certainly was hoping for her to be older but she just didn’t look much older than 18. At this point I didn’t want to be anymore wrong so I just told her that I didn’t know when she graduated and for her to just tell me because I was done guessing and I for sure didn’t want to guess 2009, which would imply to her that I didn’t even think she was out of high school yet.
“I graduated in 2002”
'Two thousand and what?' I thought. 'No way!' I graduated in 2003 which would make her older than me! And there was no way she was older than me! Come to find out this young looking, petite beauty was older than me by 6 months. I thought how could a girl this good looking at this age not already be in a relationship with someone. I must be really lucky for her to still be single! I don’t remember what we said after that but I remember we were able to talk the whole time during the song and we never had one of the awkward silence moments. I was confident during the song that I had felt a good vibe coming from her and assumed she thought I was a nice guy and that she didn’t regard as being creepy. After the song ended we stood there on the dance floor still talking and, praise be to the DJ, because immediately after that slow song he played yet another slow one. I had such a good time with this girl that I just simply asked her if she wanted to dance with me again. And to my amazement she said ‘yes’!! So we continued to talk and I already could feel that this girl was special. Someone I could see myself in a relationship with.
After slow song #2, some of my friends came over to meet this girl who I had just danced with twice in a row! One of my friends Jake, also couldn’t believe that she graduated in 2002 which made her older than all of us and demanded that she show us her driver’s license for proof. She said she didn’t have it on her but that it was in her car and after the dance she could show us. Well, after that we went our ways and it was back to the drink table for me with my friends while she went back to her table of friends. I hadn’t gotten her number yet and I knew I was going to have to approach her again during the dance and ask for it. During the rest of the dance I kept my distance from her as not to seem to needy but I couldn’t help my eyes from wanting to gaze upon her beautifulness. I told all of my friends that I was going to get her number that night. As the dance came to a close I still hadn’t talked to her again and when the lights came on to signify the end of the dance I noticed she was heading for the exit by herself. Unfortunately, at this same time I was preoccupied talking to another girl. So I looked over my shoulder and saw my friend Jake and told him that ‘SHE’ was leaving and to go stall her. From this point on, all I heard from the girl I was presently talking with was ‘blah, blah, blah’ I thought to myself, ‘Can’t you see that I really want to stop talking to you and run after the cute girl who just left?’ I don’t remember how I did it but I was able to end the conversation with this girl not a moment too soon.
After I casually exited the gym I quickly sprinted down the hallway thinking I was too late and she probably had already left. But heading out the church I scanned the parking lot and saw her still talking with my friend Jake. If it wasn’t for Jake running out there to stall her, my chance of get her number that night would have gone from slim to none. Jogging up to her and my friend I knew this was my chance to get her number. We all started talking and my friend Jake could realize that he had done his part by stalling her and, he being the cool guy that he is, excused himself from the situation and walked back into the church to leave us alone.
Now, it was just me and her. Mono e mono. My heart began to race. I knew that the two slow dance songs we had spent together didn’t mean anything if she didn’t want to give me her number. When the time was right I asked her for it and her exact response was “that’s debatable!” I thought it was such a witty and slightly flirty response I knew the moment I heard those words thatshe must have good feelings towards me. She gave me her number and we parted ways with a hug. It was a huge feeling of success!!!
The day after the dance I already really wanted to call her but I knew it was best to wait two days so as not to look too anxious. Just getting enough courage to call her up took a lot of effort. Before I called her I had supposed that she would be one of those girls who don’t answer the phone when she doesn’t recognize the number so I had a nice message prepared in my mind asking her if she wanted to go get some lunch. Instead of calling me back, which I had supposed she would do, she texted me back shortly saying she was busy and would not be able to go to lunch. 'Ouch!' I thought. I felt rejected. Maybe she wasn’t all that into me? Maybe I was in over my head with this girl? Who was I to think I could land a date with such a beautiful woman? But, to my surprise another text shortly followed which said that if I was up to it, I could come over to her place that night and watch a movie with her. The halleluiah choir was playing in my head!
That night we watched our first movie together, The Wedding Singer. It was the start of our wonderful relationship. We hung out the rest of the week together and just like that we were a couple. And that my friends, is the beginning of the love story about how I met Desiree which continues to grow even today as we keep living our lives together!
